Safeguarding Charter for ExpertEd Online Educational Webinars

 

Purpose

Safeguarding is a statutory responsibility. ExpertEdLive will provide a safe online environment and positive experience for all users. ExpertEdLive will have and implement safeguarding policies and procedures that prioritise the safeguarding of children and all those at risk from harm. ExpertEdLive adheres to Oundle School’s Safeguarding Policy and procedures, and this Charter should be read in conjunction with the School’s own policy. Any concerns are followed up robustly, in accordance with the school’s own safeguarding procedures and the Oundle School DSL and Director of Safeguarding (DSL)and Deputy Director of Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) are kept appropriately informed.

 

Intent

ExpertEdLive is committed to ensuring that all users of our webinars are safe and strive to maintain this with regular reviews, staff training and encouraging an environment of openness and vigilance. ExpertEdLive will follow up all concerns appropriately in the interests of ensuring a culture of safety, equality and protection, having regard to the protected characteristics defined in the Equality Act 2010.

  • Our systems and processes fully support and promote safeguarding.
  • We embrace continuous improvement and development.
  • Our Safeguarding structures and processes are clear, transparent and easy to follow.
  • We ensure that all those working with young people and adults at risk, follow an agreed code of conduct that promotes safe working practices and makes responsibilities and expectations clear, including the understanding that anyone can make a referral.

 

Delivery of Webinars

ExpertEdLive is committed to the following processes in the delivery of their webinars (Zoom platform) to ensure the safeguarding of the attendees.

  • Pupils cannot see or interact with each other during the session.
  • Only designated hosts, co-hosts, and panelists can be seen and heard.
  • The Q&A and chat functions are moderated and can be disabled if necessary.
  • Pupils under 16 must be accompanied either by the teacher in the classroom, if it is an in-school event, or if it is in the evening, by a parent or guardian.
  • Moderators: Attend every webinar and responsible for monitoring chat/Q&A and removing inappropriate content.
  • Presenters: Must adhere to the Oundle School Safeguarding Principles and avoid sharing personal anecdotes or content that could be inappropriate or triggering.
  • Parents/guardians must register children who are under 16 for webinars.
  • Parents/guardians are recommended to update their Zoom display name to show only their first name, as this is what will appear if they participate in the Q&A.
  • Consent is obtained for participation and any data collection (e.g., feedback forms).
  • All staff and presenters must:
    • Use appropriate language and tone.
    • Avoid one-on-one communication with children outside the webinar.
    • Report any safeguarding concerns immediately.

 

Reporting Concerns

  • Any safeguarding concerns can be emailed to admin@expertedlive.org and will be reported to the designated safeguarding lead as described above.
  • All incidents are logged and followed up according to the Oundle School’s safeguarding procedures.

 

Review and Updates

This policy is reviewed annually or following any significant changes to webinar delivery or safeguarding legislation.
